The idea behind the game is to be the first person to get all of your pieces (of different shapes) on the board in the smallest area possible. We’d played quite a bit as a family, and one night, with few other options, my husband and I decided to play together! Qwirkle feels like a mix between dominos and scrabble. Qwirkle ($23.80) :: We actually first bought Qwirkle for the kids. ) Whenever we play Connect 4, we always end up playing tournament style. Connect 4 is a hit at our home, but no one can seem to beat Mom. I like trying to outwit my husband and place m y ships where he can’t hit them, and my kids love playing against us!Ĭonnect 4($7) :: We just might own this one in two different versions. I’m so glad we did! We often pull out this junior edition because it can be played by 2 players, and you can finish it quickly!īattleship ($12.19) :: A classic and always a favorite, Battleship has long been on our list of favorite two-player games. Since our older kids play the regular version with us, we were hesitant to buy the junior edition. This game is a favorite that gets played all the time!Ĭatan Jr.:: We’re big fans of the game Settlers of Catan. We recommend the deluxe version so you can erase and re-use the boards. We let the habit lapse for a few years, because we couldn’t find new two player games we liked, and we were tired of what we’d always played. One of our favorite things to do is play games with friends but we don’t reserve game playing for only when we have a crowd! We’ve spent many evenings together with a bowl of popcorn and a good game.
